And just think of how many more millions he might have made if he had practiced on a hoop-and-ball set like this one when he was a height-challenged hoopster. Do not buy it for more than $30 This is a great toy-but why it's $44 on Amazon, I don't know. It's about $25-$30, regular price at Toys r Us. The only thing about it is that the new version does seem better-it has a place to hold the basketball for instance. Still my 1 1/2 year old son loves this basketball hoop. He's had it for 3 months now. He is tall for his age, so maybe that makes a difference-but I still think this is age appropriate for toddlers 1 1/2 and up.
Little Tykes Comes Through Again I have purchased Little Tykes products for 32 years. This last purchase was for our granddaughter. The product is great! It is adjustable for different sized/aged children and the beauty of it too, is that it grows with them which happily allows it to be used for a longer length of time than many other toys. It is made to be durable and used over and over. Kids have such fun working to score! It offers great exercise and the fun of as many or few playing with it together. It teaches children to keep trying and to never give up as you get better and better at scoring and can count on a lot of fun. Thank you Little Tykes for still producing such a basic but useful toy for our children.
Fun, but no net We received this as a gift for my 18 month old son this past Christmas. We were very disappointed to find that the basketball set came without a net in the box (and I notice that I'm not the only reviewer to have this problem). I haven't heard back from the seller despite trying to contact them multiple times by phone, email and product help on their website. I finally gave up and ordered a net directly from Little Tikes. On the plus side, we haven't had any trouble with the rim falling off!

Fun for all ages This piano is great. I have three children aged 1 1/2, 3 1/2, & 4 1/2 and they love it. Be careful not to let anyone carry it by the top because it could pop off or knock it over because the keys could come loose. The only thing I would change about this piano is the paper notes. My children feel the need to pull them off. I wish they were painted on. All in all this is a great piano for the money and my children haven't stop playing with it since we got it.
Excelent choice! This was a Christmas present for my 2.8 year old and was a big hit. He really loves music and my husband is a good piano player so it is a good start to learn his first steps into piano. I really like that is a traditional little piano, not complicated, not electric, just what a little kid needs, and I also think this is a really good brand for wooden toys.
Diva's Mama The piano I received was exactly like the picture. Did not have any problems with it coming apart. My 9 month old loves it. She is always supervised when playing with it, of course. The sound is definitely toy-like and the keys sometimes get stuck if you're playing more than one key at a time. But it's a toy and that's what I expected. I would say it is definitely a good value compared to the more expensive toy pianos. It's a good start to learning how to play the piano with one finger. My daughter still likes to play with me on the real piano but she is more comfortable sitting on the floor with this toy piano.

Fun, but other toys and balls can get stuck My 11 month old daughter received this as a Christmas gift and loves it. The biggest negative is that balls of a similar size but tad bigger from older Fisher Price toys fit in the ball popper, but once in can not get out without taking the toy apart. So be careful of what the kids put in the toy. Also the balls do fly everywhere, but that is where an older sibling comes in handy. My five year old tracks down all the balls for his sister and helps her with the start button. It is a toy that can occupy both children simultaneously.
Playskoll Busy Ball Popper This toy provides exercise for adults (and cats) as well as for the child. At times the balls pop completely away from the toy which neccesitates chasing them. Overall, though, it is fun.
This is a great toy I bought this for my son when he was about 9 months old. He loved it then, now he's almost two and still plays with it every single day. It is a bit noisy, but the music isn't too nerve-wracking. Much more tolerable than most of the noisemaking toys out there. It's affordable, durable, and they never tire of it. The balls do occasionally go flying and need to be picked up, but if you're a parent you're constantly picking up anyway. The only suggestion I might add is to get rechargeable batteries for this, because if your kid likes it as much as mine does, you'll be buying D cell batteries every time you're at the store, and that can get pricey fast.

CLR is great fun!! This is a great game! I bought it to have our "Games Group" try it. We are an interest group within a newcomer group. The women loved it! It was quick, easy to learn and lots of fun! You can play with the provided chips or use pennies if you like. The directions are easy to read and understand. The more people the more fun. Not a game for two people. You need at least three to play. Small in size so you can easily carry it with you. Great family game and will actually help little ones learn which way is left and right and even center!!

Amazon.com Sure, Mindstorms NXT is a toy, but it is an important toy, like a piano or a chemistry set. It's one of those items that engages an imagination and possibly opens doors to new interests. Since our future is surely to be shared with robots--it's already started happening, just look at Roomba--those robots will need, at least initially, humans to program and maintain them. Those people, years from now, will likely remember their experiences with Lego Mindstorms.

Out of the BoxThe main part of the kit is the NXT itself. It's about the size of an iPod (though a bit thicker) with a a loudspeaker, a monochrome LCD, and navigation keys on the front. This is the controller for the robot--it's brain, if you will. It has three ports on top for connecting to the servo motors and four ports on the bottom for connecting to four different sensors: Touch, Light, Sound, and Ultrasonic (see detail below).

Sound Sensor: enables the robot to react to sound
Light Sensor: can detect light and color
Ultrasonic Sensor: allows the robot to measure distance and react to movement
Servo Motors: ensures the robot moves with precision
The set includes Ethernet-like wires for connecting all of these to the NXT, as well as software and a basic USB cable for downloading programs from your computer. Then there are all the Lego parts, hundreds of them, and most are very small. It would be a good idea to get a plastic organizer for the different parts--it would not only make construction and storage easier but also part loss less likely.
Hitting the BricksThe instructions for MNXT are simple, illustrated, and they gently take the new user on an introductory path through the system. The quick start guide promises a 30-minute robot building and programing intro, though for me it was closer to 50 (I'm a little old and slow). It starts with a simple diagnostic routine which shows you how to test the function of all sensors, then proceeds to step-by-step picture instructions for building a basic first robot. It's about as complex as building a piece of Ikea furniture.
Programming is the real gem in this system. It has a drag-and-drop interface using pre-programmed objects that you pull from a palette and snap to other objects.
Next, I installed the software. Be sure to check the system requirements (below). The software is well-designed and very intuitive. It comes with built-in video instructions on how to create your first simple program and download it to your NXT.
Bringing It To LifeProgramming is the real gem in this system. It has a drag-and-drop interface using pre-programmed objects that you pull from a palette and snap to other objects. Each object is configurable. For example, the Sound object brings up a sub-window that allows you to choose between a tone and a list of sound files, set the volume, set duration, and so on. Little Lego bricks between the objects reinforce the idea that building a NXT program is like building a Lego model. Programming this way is much easier than, say, creating a web page from scratch. Lego even offers a software development kit for getting deeper into the programming.

Mindstorms NXT "challenges" from top: Tribot, RoboArm, and Spike.
There comes a genuine thrill from seeing something you've created--even something simple and silly as my first program--come to life in a robot. It's akin to seeing yourself on TV for the first time. I played that program a dozen times.
The software contains "challenges," which are similar step-by-step instructions for creating and programming more complex models, such as a robotic arm that can "perform simple tasks and react to different colors." Each challenge is divided into smaller tasks with step-by-step building, programming, and testing guides for each task.
Accessing your latest program once it's downloaded to the NXT is pretty easy. Lego has set it up so that you can execute it by pressing the big orange center button four times in a row after start-up. I was surprised to find out that you don't need a computer to program the NXT. You can program directly into the NXT Program submenu.
Bluetooth ReadyThe NXT also has built-in Bluetooth wireless technology. If your computer has Bluetooth, you can test and download programs to the NXT without connecting the USB cable--a really handy feature if you're programming a complicated dance routine and you don't want your robot getting tripped up in cables. If your phone or PDA has Bluetooth, you might be able to use your device to control the robot. Best of all, Bluetooth allows you to create a network of up to three NXT devices. Think of the possibilities: three NXTs plus three sets of blocks and sensors equals bigger, more complex robots.

Lego 4+ Basic Bulk Set Quite a lot of building blocks. Enough to keep a child's imagination going for hours. Strong parts, bright colors and many different shapes are great.
More is never enough My grandsons have been Lego fans as long as I can remember. They actually travel with a large container of Legos. We added to their collection at Christmas with this product and they were thrilled. While they visited us, they built reinforced castles from opposing warlords and had huge battles right on our family room floor. If imagination is educational (can anyone argue with that?) this is a great thing for kids. Beats the heck out of the thumb workout they would get from the video stuff.
Nice that it's just the blocks I like that this is a package of just Lego bricks, and not all the fancy prefab cars, house, people, etc., that most people think of as Legos nowadays. Personally, I think the more fancy you make the Lego sets, the less they stimulate imagination -- just having geometric blocks and building with those seems like pure creative thought to me. That being said, it's worth pointing out that these are *small* basic Legos (ie, the connecting dots are the smallest size). Does anyone know where we could find a comparable basic set of the larger-bore size?

My little princess is very happy! My 4-year-old daughter just loves her princesses and was delighted to get the Disney Princess Dress Up Trunk. She dresses up every single day. I cherish this age of dress-up fantasy for her!
Worth every penny. We purchased this for our 2 1/2 year-old daughter for Christmas. It has been played with every day since. I am not kidding. We read the previous reviews about the lack of durability, and one of the skirts' elastic gave way very quickly - but oh, well. It's not like we expect this to make it to Halloween. The elastic will be fixed by grandma and the sewing machine - we dare not pack it up and return it, our daughter would freak - she loves her princess costumes.

Although she was very excited to get the princess costumes I was somewhat disappointed in the size. She is an average 3 year-old and the costumes just fit her. The description said this dress-up set was for 3 to 5 year-olds. Another couple growth spurts and they won't fit. She won't get anywhere near 5 before she outgrows them! Other than this, my granddaughter loves dressing up as all the princesses. It's a lot of fun watching her act as each one!

One of the best board games ever Changes from the third edition: new artwork on all the pieces, and the outer ring of the board fits together like a jigsaw puzzle, so that bumping the board doesn't knock everything apart. No big difference, same rules, still the really, really fun and engaging boardgame I remembered. I'm amazed this isn't more popular in America, on a scale with Monopoly, Risk and all the rest.
Awesome game This game is awesome! Recommended by two co-workers independently. Game lives up to the recommendation. Complex enough to be fun for adults, not too complicated for my 9 year old. He was able to completely grasp the concepts and game play after one practice game. Nice online resources, best new game I have played in a decade.
Great Game I really enjoy this game. It is a great strategy game to have fun with the family. The only thing I didn't like was the border for the pieces came in four segments. It is a little bit of a pain to setup, but after it is setup, it is a lot of fun.

A fun holiday gift My daughter has spent many hours playing with this toy. (It's a good thing that it is proving to be durable!) The educational value comes from the video link to the games on the Internet. (Without computer access, the educational value disappears.) I'm not sure if the toy would have been as attractive to her if it had not arrived during the holidays. Still, it was one of the favorite things that Santa brought to her this year.
Damaged Reindeer Extremely disappointed with the service I received! One of the reindeer arrived with a hole in it's ear before Christmas and I still have not heard from the toy company (not Webkinz) about what they were going to do to correct the problem! I purchased two for Christmas gifts and one of them was not damaged. I will never buy anything from this company again!
My grandson loves it! My five year old granson has little experience with computers but that is changing fast. He loves this webkinz. He went online and named it as soon as he got it. Maybe it will lose its appeal now that the holidays are over, but he surely has enjoyed it.

The Rebel Scout Speeder This set is essentially a made up, really chunky vehicle that's just something to go with these TO DIE FOR minifigs. The main set, the speeder, can carry 3 rebel troops, 4 guns, (2 pistols 2 rifles) and a Heavy blaster turret. The 4th minifig is suppose to walk or run alongside the speeder with his pistol or rifle. The turret slides off the back and is probably meant to secure a certain area before being picked up later on. The rebel minifigs can go on the speeder in various ways. First one trooper can drive it, one can act as a co-pilot, one can man the turret, but one has to just jog alongside. The minifigs themselves are the first of they're kind. LEGO has never made rebel helmets so snatch this set up while you still can.

A good buy It's a little difficult transforming (at least for me!), but my son still enjoys playing with it.
Underrated baddie I saw this transformer at the store and i liked it as an armored truck. It didn't appear in the transformers movie, but nevertheless i wanted it. It's a very nice surprise to transform it into robot ! He reminds me a lot of G1 Shockwave, with a single, menacing eye. It has several flaws: a lot of parts (the head, the bumpers, the hands) will snap-off too easily and you'll have to reassemble it once and again. It's top-heavy, so it's hard to pose it. And the feet are too slippery, so he falls down constantly. ...However.... it has so many little details that surprise you, that you can forgive his other flaws. The Claw Attack feature is very nice and fast, and adds a lot for playability. Sadly, it looks like if a steel beam found his way through poor Payload's chest forever. But its blue color, the appearing kneecaps, the hideout for the hands and all the details in the panels make up for all the defects. It makes a mean truck too. If you are a collector like me, you can't leave this one out.

Better for older kids I ordered this for my 3-year old, since he likes these kinds of toys. I didn't realize how complicated these are to transform (I still haven't figured it out, need to read the directions). The first thing that happened is the car doors popped off - maybe they are supposed to, I don't know. I'm sure a child who is a little older could figure it out in about a minute, but not good for the younger ones.
Easy Beginners Toy Swindle is the easiest Transformer that I have. It is probably best for people who have not had the experience with these toys yet. Swindle may sometimes be red and sometimes orange, depending on when and where you buy it. There have been many cases of this red Transformer being orange, possibly from mis-coloring.
Who cares about the name? First off, if you are going to get hung up on names compared to looks, then Ironhide should have been Trailblazer, Bumblebee should have been Sunstreaker, and Jazz resembles Bluestreaker more than G1 Jazz. But who cares? They look great, and so does this one (for the most part). I will admit Swindle (yes, I will call him Swindle) is not quite as well made as the other movie Transformers I've gotten. His car mode does not fit together as seemlessly as my others (those mentioned above). However, he transforms much more easily than the others and feels like he'll stand up to play more readily, if you are looking for ones for the kids. My only complaint is when he arrived, he did not look exactly like he's pictured here (or even on the box for that matter). His head is slightly different and has more of an orange tint to him than I expected. Other than that, and the fact that I think this deluxe "movie" Transformer would have made a great addition to the movie, I think he's great.

Scorponok Transformer This was a huge hit with my seven year old son. It transformers fairly easy and seems to be pretty durable. Every transformers arsenal has to have a few "baddies" and this is definately one bad dude! Way better construction than Megatron which took four adults 3hrs. to figure out HOW to transform him!
Small but Fun This is 9th transformer and I am quite happy with it. Sure, it might have a bit lame transformation, but if you turn it upside down, with the legs as arms and vice versa, and tail as head, it looks like a dragon thing. Scroponok is quite small in robot form.
Like the movie This is a great transformer. My 7yo loves it. Why? Just like the movie. Mom likes it too, that was a kewl part of the movie. :o) I'd recommend you buy it. My son has had his for 2 months and its in the same shape as when it was opened and yes he plays with it alot. FYI price paid was under $10 reg. price at WM. Hope that helps!

Nice and Simple Wreckage is a non-movie transformer. He is very durable and will not break easily. There are a few confusing parts about the instructions, though. To activate his automorphing feature, the instructions say to push his gun into the red panel on its top. To not risk the gun from breaking, I recommend using your finger to do this, then push the gun down.
One cool looking robot! My first impression of Wreckage after having transformed him from vehicle to robot and back is a very good one! Where most of the other products in the Movie line-up seem to have some compromise or other in making a robot fit into a vehicle, Wreckage doesn't seem to have any! The vehicle is by no means the prettiest to look at, but it does have very neat lines and folds which hold together firmly - the fact that both swords fit nicely into the rear only enhances the overall picture. It is robust, and holds up to a little bashing, which is more than can be said with some of the other figures (esp. Brawl, Bonecrusher). What really is the trump card of this figure is the robot mode - this is one excellent sculpt that seems to effortlessly fold out into a very nicely formed robot body that is oh-so-poseable. And he has swords! Forget about the logical factors about hand-held weapons vs. blasters... they look awesome being held in both arms, and sets Wreckage a little apart from the rest. A pity that he doesn't actually feature in the movie - this is fast becoming my favourite amongst the Movie Deluxe figures, second only to the 08 Bumblebee.
My favorite Voyager line transformer I pretty much bought all of the new movie line-up toys among the "voyager class" and the two big "leader class." Wreckage is so far my favorite among the voyager class transformers. Although the transformation is not too complex, the quality is among the most steady (unlike say Brawl with the super hard to lock arms, or Bumblebee with the easily jammed legs/hood, so on) and it looks good in both modes. In robot mode he's very posable, with good amount of ball joints. The downside is that in vehicle mode there's no good place to put on his weapons. And YES, THE WEAPONS. Small wimpy guns are for sissies, and Wreckage is not one of them!

Great, smaller Transformer My almost-5-year-old just bought Bonecrusher with some of his Christmas money and on the first day he got it, the shovel/blade attachment popped off. After about 10-15 times of mom popping it back on only to come right back off, I told him he was just going to have to think of them as two separate toys because he was getting pretty sad about a broken toy! A few days later, he announced to me that that piece was actually Bonecrusher's "minicon"! What a great imagination and ability to roll with the indignities of poor construction. This is his and my favorite Transformer we've seen/bought yet. It is small and yet has a pretty complicated Transformation process--he sat down and successfully Transformed it right away and hasn't had any difficulties, but is very engaged in the process. He is a VERY mechanical little guy so this works great for him, but I doubt I would be able to Transform it at all! Except for the one piece that won't stay on, there haven't been any other pieces come loose or pop off after nearly two weeks of very steady use. Overall, I think this is a good little Transformer to have for his age range.

Megatron is a towering, bulky, dinosaur-footed monstrosity with a varied color scheme noticeably different than that of the movie version. Megatronâs jet mode looks a little bit like one of Leonardo da Vinciâs flying machines. His robot mode, bearing a slightly simplified version of the movie Megatronâs intricate armor plating, is reasonably well articulated. Among Megatronâs arsenal of gimmick features are electronic sounds and lights, a launching claw that becomes a chain whip, and arms that combine to form a fusion cannon. Initially Megatron was Cybertronâs designated Lord High Protector, although eventually he succumbed to his consuming lust for the Allspark. Megatronâs agenda placed him in opposition of Optimus Prime---forcing the latter to rally a militia against Megatronâs Decepticons. Megatron was single-minded and monstrously powerful; the Decepticons gained ground against their adversaries, and as a desperate contingency the Allspark was jettisoned into space. Megatronâs attempt to find the Allspark ultimately divided him from his forces and led him into frozen stasis.
